No ROMs / no copyrighted assets

This independent guide does not host or link to game files. Use your own legally obtained copy.

SHA-1
A hash function that produces a 40-character fingerprint for a file. Used here to confirm whether a copy you legally own matches a supported build.
Reimplementation
A from-scratch rewrite of a game's logic on top of platform-native APIs. Dusk is described by its project as a reimplementation.
Emulation
Simulating an entire console in software so the original binary can run. Different from reimplementation.
ROM / ISO / disc image
Files containing copyrighted game data. We do not host, link to, or distribute these.
Steam Input
Steam's per-game controller layer. Lets you configure paddles, gyro and action sets without changing in-game settings.
Gyro aim
Using a controller's motion sensor for fine aim, typically while a trigger is held.
VRR (G-Sync / FreeSync)
Variable refresh rate — display refresh follows the GPU's output, eliminating tearing and reducing stutter.
TDP
Thermal design power. On Steam Deck, you can cap TDP per game to manage battery and thermals.
Gatekeeper
macOS's app-vetting layer. New unsigned apps are blocked on first run; you allow them in System Settings.
Action set (Steam Input)
A named bundle of bindings — switch between Gameplay and Menus, for example.
