How 120 FPS works in Dusk

Dusk's renderer can target high refresh rates. A few small settings make the difference between smooth and inconsistent.

Requirements

  • Display capable of 120 Hz or higher.
  • GPU that can sustain your target frame rate at chosen settings.
  • VSync compatible mode (G-Sync / FreeSync recommended).

Recommended setup

  • Set the OS / display to its highest refresh rate.
  • In Dusk, target 119 FPS on a 120 Hz panel for clean pacing.
  • Enable VSync. If your display supports VRR (G-Sync / FreeSync), enable that as well.
  • Disable any frame-rate doubling features that conflict with VRR.

Why 'cap one below'

Capping at one frame below the refresh rate keeps the engine inside the VRR window, avoiding tearing and minimizing input lag versus a traditional VSync.
