ReShade & visual presets

ReShade adds post-processing on top of Dusk's output. It doesn't replace game assets — which is why it's safer than texture mods that redistribute originals.

What ReShade is

ReShade injects post-processing shaders into a graphics pipeline. It operates after the engine renders the frame — adding tone mapping, sharpening, color correction or grain.

Setup checklist

  • Download ReShade from its official site.
  • Point the installer at your Dusk install folder.
  • Choose the rendering API Dusk uses (Vulkan typically).
  • Pick or import a preset — start light.
  • Toggle the overlay in-game with the configured hotkey.

Reasonable presets

  • Sharpening: subtle (CAS at ~30%).
  • Vibrance: minor lift; avoid oversaturation.
  • Vignette: very gentle if at all.
  • Film grain: optional; keep low.

When to disable

  • FPS drop is noticeable beyond a single shader effect.
  • Specific scenes break or look wrong.
  • Anti-cheat systems flag the injected library (n/a for Dusk in single-player).
